Applications

Pyridinium Bromide Perbromide (PHBP) is an intermediate for trisubstituted enones. It is used as a convenient brominating reagent in organic synthesis. PHBP is an excellent brominating agent with certain selectivity, mild reaction conditions, high yield, low side reactions, easy measurement, and ease of use. PHBP is a solid complex of bromine and pyridine hydrobromide, serving as a source of bromine in reactions. It is a milder brominating reagent compared to pure bromine and can be utilized for selective bromination and dehydrogenation reactions.
